GERRIT du RAAN
Born 1946 in Okahandja, Namibia, this mostly self-taught
landscape artist has had numerous solo and group exhibitions
in Namibia. His deep love of the landscape is beautifully
depicted in his realistic oil paintings: the ever-changing

MICHAEL MANSFIELD
Born in Windhoek 42 years ago; once a journalist he lived
in Cape Town for many years and Swakopmund is now his home.
This artist cannot remember ever not painting and drawing
and is largely self-taught. He has sold work at group exhibitions
and hopes to have his first solo exhibition soon. Unusual
for a Namibian artist, he has completely avoided landscape
and wildlife and his work is best described as realism,
with painstaking attention to minutiae. In his acrylic still
life paintings are usually books, photographs and other
printed matter, as pictures within pictures, which he says,
serve as a symbolic content.

CAROL SCHLUNZ
Zimbabwe-born, now living in Hermanus in the Cape, she is
a professional artist who trained in the commercial arts
as well as in portraiture. Having lived most of her life
in the bush, Carol has developed a great love for and an
intimate knowledge of the wildlife and the people, which
she paints uniquely with spirit dyes on leather. Her works
are not merely paintings as her technique includes collage,
rouching, moulding and padding of various leathers on one
piece, imparting great depth and texture. The spirit-based
leather dyes are applied in multiple layers resulting in
colours of beautiful clarity and intensity, finally sealed
for permanency. She has exhibited in South Africa, the Hobby
Horse Art Gallery in Swakopmund, and in the U.S.A. at the
Hunters Exhibition in Reno and the Safari Club in Las Vegas.
